Avatar: The Last Airbender Book 3 Review
The final season of Avatar, not
counting Korra. (We don’t have to cry our eyes out completely yet) But yes,
this is big for me, not only because Avatar for the past year has become a very
special show to me, but just reviewing it made me proud in a sort of way. Only
once before have I completed an entire series in reviews, and to do it again,
and with a show I like much more, makes me very satisfied. And I’d say hey,
this doesn’t have much to do with the third and final season of The Last
Airbender, but this is my experience, and that’s what reviews should be.
Reflections of our experience. And I loved those blurry eyed nights where I watched
like ten of these in a row, or that night I finally made it to the end. That or
even recently when I finally was able to buy the first season, and put it on my
shelf like I had with DBZ. But we’ll save some of it for the series review, for
now, let’s talk about the third season. Do I still like the second season more?
Yes, but just a tiny little bit. The ending I liked much more than the first
time around, and I wasn’t disappointed in any. But there was some really
uneventful episodes, which although great, just didn’t have value. Katara’s
little episode in the swamp area I think although done well, hell I gave it a
four, could have been replaced WITH A DAMN TOPH EPISODE! But I’ll complain very
little about episodes, because most were great ideas. Although this being the
final season, they still took risks and concepts that seemed to want to have
fun and you can tell they love these characters and world as much as we do.
Episodes like the Beach or the Ember Island Players were so much fun. And each character
had their story, and each episode had a story, and there was the overall story
as a complete whole, which didn’t feel incomplete or ever like it was being put
of for the certain episode to go on. They nailed it on the head, but not in the
way like maybe like the Deathly Hallows Harry Potter book, where it was really
extreme, and didn’t feel like it could have fun at a time like that. But like
the other episodes from past seasons, you can look at each episode in certain
ways. Under the light of fun, where it succeeds. Under the light of a critical
snobby reviewer, where it still succeeds. Or under the light of optimist art
dude who looks at all entertainment as if it was a painting, and it still
succeeds. The animation, music, it all held and didn’t let the series down, and
put an end to an amazing series.
