So our coughing new proctor tells us all we have a preliminary exam to lower the amount of participators for the third exam, and just after they’ve gone through the Forest of Death for five days. Then the proctor asks if anyone wants to leave which Sakura almost volunteers Sasuke because of his mark. They actually make a really big deal out of it, and the second exam proctor also tries to remove him, and to be honest it would be better if they minimized that whole part. Sakura comes across as emotional and paranoid, and it just isn’t necessary. Anyway Kabuto actually raises his hand and leaves, we can guess because of Orochimaru, but he says cause he’s beat and doesn’t want to keep going. The Kabuto part is all right, but then they keep butchering the whole curse mark thing. It’s not as bad as before, but it still doesn’t look at Sakura that good as she is so worried. The Third Hokage says let Sasuke participate, but if the curse mark shows up they’ll intervene. Then after that our proctor reveals a big ass television, and says the preliminaries will be sudden death matches, and the winners will carry on to the third exam. First up is Sasuke and one of Kabuto‘s teammates, who we know works for Orochimaru. The fight actually starts and it‘s fairly interesting. It ends just as Sasuke gets the other dude gets the upper hand by face palming Sasuke. It’s a decent episode, and gets a six out of ten. The first half still could have been mashed into the last episode and dedicated this whole one to the fight, but oh well. Hopefully things will get more interesting now that we have a tournament going. It’s a great idea, and I mentioned this in my season one review of Naruto, but using the last two exams to get to know each other, and then making the rest a tournament is a really cool idea.
