Let me rephrase the title, by confrontation, they mean a meeting of the minds that will only end in epic brain fuck. Anyway, Light is continuing his killing of criminals, and he’s being a little smarter about it. After a small close call with his sister almost touching the Death Note (and thus seeing Ryuk) he crafts a pretty sure safe way of nobody ever touching the notebook. But then the police has started noticing that criminals are dropping like flies. And with no leads on heart attack victims, they pretty much are screwed. So, who are they going to call. Ghost… actually L. L shows nothing about himself. His face, name, and identity are all up to speculate on. He just tells the instructions and takes none back. But then suddenly L’s face appears on Light’s television, and he says he’s going to find Light, and stop his evil. Light hears the word evil, and snaps out his hand dandy Death Note, and kills L. And I remember seeing this thinking, "O.K. shit, he doesn’t have a problem with that. Oh well for L, I guess…” *L’s insignia flashes on the screen* "WHAT!?” And so L used a fake decoy, and that’s who Light killed. And so he knows all he needs is a face and name to kill. He knows he doesn’t have to be there to kill somebody, and because the broadcast was only in Japan’s Kanto region, L knows where Kira (the new nickname for Light’s persona) is. And so L and Kira look like they will a real head to head battle of the minds, as that’s what they’re hyping, and trust me, they deliver. The episode ends with both L and Light looking the other in the face, saying they will bring justice. And it brings a chill up ones spine. And I remember the one-eighty switch with L and the guy, and I thought it was so cool, I’ve never really had such an intelligent anime as this, and seeing it the first time was so stunning.
Death Note Episode 2 (Confrontation) gets a 5/5
