A quick breakdown of episode two. First when Katara and Aang get back, Sokka becomes pretty mad because Aang while on the ship accidentally sent a flare that could reveal them to the entire fire nation. So the fire nation comes while Aang was banished. What I love most about when the fire nation comes is Sokka. By now we can see he’s the comedic relief guy, but as the ship comes he’s got war paint on, and he doesn’t move while the ship is about to crush him flat. When I’ve finished the series reviews I’ll review these characters, but I love how well they show a comedic relief character can do epic things. Plus his weapon is a boomerang… there’s something about that just fits. Then Aang comes and stops Zuko. He gives himself up to save the waterbending village. After that there’s a full escape with a match between Zuko and Aang, Aang entering the Avatar state (we’ll learn more about that later), and Aang trapping the fire nation ship in ice. Then with the discussion after you feel the show really started. You can tell there’ll be a good chase to get the Avatar, along with a lot of action and adventure. In the end it really sets up the beginning, and our show has gotten started. I see a lot of eight and nines going around in this series, and this one was no exception. It easily gets an eight, and leaves you excited for more.
Avatar: The Last Airbender Episode 2 (The Avatar Returns) gets a 4/5
