Spring Break Anthem gets a 3/5
This is my first comedy so
review, but I’ll skip the introductory. Comedy is as good and real genre as
others, and I take it seriously to review some. Anyway, off of the Wack Album
by the Lonely Island, there are some good songs, but
the one I’ve listened to the most next to semicolon was Spring Break Anthem.
The thing they’re parodying are spring break songs, or more or less just more
songs where there are stupid party people. I would say there aren’t a songs
like that that exist. I mean there are a million references to the club, just
not a lot solely devoted to the partying in the club. But as I was reviewing
this, and listening to the song, I love College popped up next, so maybe I’m
wrong. Anyway, the big punch line is a gay joke. Out of nowhere in the middle
of a typical party song there are lyrics about marrying a man. Nothing else,
just marrying a man. And there isn’t a part where the song is like, "Oh, just
kidding!” And I think that helped the track all the more. When there isn’t that
break of comic relief, it’s almost way funnier. When it goes in the exact same
tone about nailing chicks to writing your vows, it’s hilarious. If they’d have
even changed their tone, the whole thing could have been broken. And as for the
gay thing, 2013 had a lot of gay songs. Macklemore you have some competition…
sort of. Anyway, the song just putting two really different things together.
Spring Break partying, and gay marriage. Yeah, and the video was good too.
James Franco, Zach Galifianakis, they were just funny to see as apart of this.
Was this song funny? Hell yes, as it was quotable. Picking out flowers! Nailing
sluts, and marry a man!
