First on episode forty-three there’s the match between Temari and Tenten. This is the first glimpse of we have of Temari’s character besides being nervous around Gaara (which fits just about everybody) and she from first glance seems kind of arrogant and egotistical. The fight’s all right, it’s just suppose to be a fighting match to keep you entertained for a few minutes, but it had a good finish that brought a flashback of the manga and also just giving the spotlight ever for a few minutes can give a character that much more. Then after a little moment with Lee trying to fight Temari, Shikamaru steps in and he’s against the sound ninja girl from before. As I’ve said before Shikamaru is probably tied if not just below my favorite character Kakashi (From reading manga and not getting far in series) and I like him getting the spotlight. His match isn’t long, but it shows just a fraction of how intelligent he is, and he isn’t a stupid cowardice character that has one line like before. After that we see who’s going to be in the next match, and it’s Naruto up against Kiba. We start seeing that the best characters are being saved for last, and things are really stating to look interesting. The best part of this episode was the first glimpse of Shikamaru, and I say it’s a six out of ten. Nothing wrong with it by any means, it’s just not much happens, and it’s not that great of an episode. It doesn’t feel like a step down, more like it’s just giving a duller episode that doesn’t have much going for it.
