Episode 8 (The Road to the Pokemon League) Review
So yeah, leave it to Pokemon to have the vaguest lesson on using creatures as tools. Anyway, Ash is on ten wins, and he basically thinks he’s hot shit now. Especially since he has two badges. But that’s when he faces an opponent who’s won nearly a hundred matches. And he’s basically using whips to control his Pokemon. And collars… and he yells at him. So he basically is looking like a cruel slave owner when he trains them. But of course, he’s not the bad guy. Team Rocket gets involved, steal Sandshrew, and the problem basically fixes itself when Sandshrew just breaks free and comes back. But I’m not a slaver fights Team Rocket, and he wins, making it his big one-hundredth win. So the message is pretty cloudy, and I think I’ll repeat the same thing that I believe about the first movie, Pokemon is the last people to try and handle this message. Nothing was really learned, except maybe don’t believe people are as cruel as they look… although you are right to assume that a lot of the time. Anyway, good episode, just mixed about it. Above average maybe, but still entertaining.
