I wonder what the fuck I’m suppose to check out. Check It Out is going to probably be my favorite song on this album, and one of few I can just say I like. This time she brings Will.i.am., all because this album totally needed more people featuring, right? Oh yeah, and you might want to give some credit to Video Killed the Radio Star for giving a good percentage of the noise with the "oh, oh,” playing all the time. But the song has simple goals. One, make a techno like dance song that doesn’t have much purpose. Two, pay some kind of respect to Japanese anime and culture with a music video, (which I wouldn’t say they exactly succeeded at that part). And third, say Check It Out as much as humanely possible in the few minute run time. I’ve said in the past in the Did it on ‘em review I don’t like when rap uses techno like beats for songs, but this isn’t really rap anymore. This is a bubble gum pop techno song with a verse from Nicki. But that’s just it, now that it’s a stupid dance song, I can just look at it as that. Nicki depends on the bubble gum pop of her music, let’s be honest being a chick in a male dominant genre means your going to sound like an autotune monster eventually. And the blend into going into this type of song goes smoother because of will.i.am. For this song, he’s the perfect counterpart. A nonsensical dance song with a techno aspect and no real point. Will.i. fucking am. Now she’s not rapping over a weird techno song with bad lyrics. As far as lyrics go, they don’t manage to fuck it up really. Nicki manages to make fun of monotone people, (something I might find offensive) and tell her haters to literally go kill themselves (that escalated quickly into a dance song) will.i.am manages to combine the n word with terrific, and apparently he enters the party like he’s Mr.T. (apparently Mr. T is the life of every party) That said, are the lyrics terrible? Hell the fuck yes, I’d be surprised if it wasn’t. But this isn’t a rap song taking it self seriously now, it’s complete opposite, so can finally say I don’t give a shit. I can not care, despite I don’t know what I’m suppose to check out, despite they told me to do it nearly forty times. And I think part of the reason why I like this song is I’ve been so disgusted and tired from the songs I’ve reviewed so far, I’ll just take anything right now that doesn’t suck gladly. As far as the music video "respecting anime and Japanese culture,” let’s just say I doubted either of them watched an anime in a day of their life. I like the futuristic style and stuff like that, but the Japanese theme wasn’t great. It’s actually a pretty stale music video, and isn’t exactly needed. Also at times it’s awkward and clunky. But for once they didn’t just happen to lower the camera to Nicki’s ass, so that’s a first. Anyway, Check It Out currently is easily my favorite song on the album, and I’m just happy to pump out one positive review on this album. Let’s hope the future reviews can follow.

Check It Out gets a 3/5
