Earlier this year Tech released his Something Else album, which had more hype than his usual projects. And although I haven't listened to the full album, I like it so far. But the first track I heard was See Me, which was released on youtube sometime before the album dropped. This is one of the more better tracks on the album, but still not as likable as some. Tech did what he usually does and grabbed some rappers, and fit together a song that made sense, in his weird Tech N9ne way. And yeah, it worked, but wasn't great by any means. First we'll get to Tech's parts. Although I had no problems with his lyrics, (even the line they want to flunk me, my songs be funky) I just thought he felt kind of uninspired. There are three rappers in this, all of which I like, but none of them even feel like they want to be here. But they do match the tracks flow, and that's why I think it balances it out. Tech just seems a little whatever about it. Then B.o.B gets on the hook, and it's a pretty good hook. It's not corny, it sounds good, but I was hoping for a small verse at least. But the hook is catchy, and stuck with me longer than a lot of the other hooks on Something Else. (And he did a lot better of a job than Cee-Lo Green) As for Wiz... it's a more mixed bag again. He starts the verse, and it almost sounds like a Hopsin diss at first. I mean he says shit about a guy in contacts who doesn't smoke weed, and if you wanted to subliminally diss Hopsin, that would be the way to go. But I don't think it was because A, Wiz would diss Hopsin if he wanted do, and B, why would you diss Hopsin on a Tech track? But that doesn't bother me, it's like he's just there for the sake of being there. His lyrics although aren't bad, feel like they were scribbled down on the way to the studio. And no offense to either Tech or Wiz, but they really have to do something ordinary to fit on a track together. The whole song's theme of seeing, and vision wasn't anything that cool. I feel like if they had a more unique track idea, then we could have seen Wiz out of his element instead of his usual. These are times you prove you can mix your style up, but he didn't get a chance to, but maybe that's not a bad thing either. As for the beat, it's ordinary. The sound is very catchy, the flow is nice, but overall it's just good album filler. This is how I think album filler should be, and I liked the song, but no barriers were broken, let alone pushed.
