Episode 63 Review (Hit It or Quit It: The Final Rounds Get Complicated)

Episode 63 Review (Hit It or Quit It: The Final Rounds Get Complicated)

So far the final exam is going strong. Before we move to the next match they tell what happens between the fight of Neji and Naruto. Neji gets dragged to the hospital while Naruto gets ecstatic about getting cheered on. Then Neji’s uncle comes to him and reveals to him what really happened that night. Neji’s father hadn’t been forced as posing a dead body like we originally thought, in fact he chose that. Neji’s uncle didn’t want him to do that, but Neji’s father did it anyway, as it was the first time he was able to decide for himself, and choose his own destiny. In a way he finally overcame the head branch’s orders and took his destiny. Neji starts finally realizing the error of his ways as he decides he’ll get stronger, and that’s what he wants to do. He sees two birds flying off together, and that is suppose to be symbolism of he and his dad escaped their cages and decided their own destinies. What I like about the Naruto and Neji fight was it was a story of its own. It was complete with hype, climax, falling action, and even resolution. It was a great story, and really it could have been a slapped together fight where Naruto gets a lucky shot and wins, but no, it was much more than that. After that there is some confusion with the next match. Sasuke still hasn’t arrived, and his match is up. Problem with that is lots of people came to see Sasuke and Gaara fight. There is a reference that maybe Gaara killed Sasuke, but you don’t really buy that they’d kill a main character like that. So the match is postponed to the match with Kankuro and Shino. But this isn’t part of the plan, and Kankuro doesn’t want to reveal his jutsu to the enemy, so he forfeits. Then the match is moved to Shikamaru and Temari. Shikamaru is getting nervous that his match is being so forced, and thinks about quitting. But Naruto knocks him over the ledge in encouragement, and our episode ends as he sarcastically thanks Naruto. In the end this is another great episode. It gave a space between the fights, but in that time rather than being slow and boring, it was fulfilling to the last match while also getting you ready for what was next. It managed to keep the momentum of the last few episodes, and I really do feel like I could watch it many times. The part with Neji and the birds was also a very good Naruto moment.
