Episode 56 Review (Live or Die! Risk it All to Win it All!)

For episode fifty-six we mostly spend out time with Naruto and Jiraiya. Jiraiya is taking Naruto around doing things he wants to do, feeding him, taking to the spa, that kind of stuff. He then references that the food would be Naruto’s last meal. Naruto is completely oblivious to the fact that it seems Jiraiya is going to kill him. Meanwhile while all this is going on, the Third Hokage is actually getting his character build a little. He is talking to some of the ninja academy students, looking at some of the old photos, that kind of thing. But what’s important is Naruto. Jiraiya says the only way Naruto will succeed is if he’s in mortal danger, as that’s when the Nine-Tails Fox will give him Chakra. So he decides to train him Piccolo style and shoves him into a giant ass chasm full of spikes. Naruto can’t grab onto anything, and then we see as he enters his own mind in a way. He sees the trapped Nine-Tails Fox, and demands chakra. The fox obviously won’t take Naruto’s crap, but realizing he’ll die if Naruto dies, gives Naruto his chakra without looking like a total push over. The episode ends while Naruto is falling, and he tries for a summoning jutsu. And what do you know, a giant magical toad the size of a house appears. In the end the episode is actually really entertaining, and really helps Naruto, the Fox, and even the Third Hokage. Also Jiraiya just seemed more funny and more wise in this episode. This is the kind of quick training Naruto needed, and it’s really cool to see him risk his life for the sake of training. This is a really great episode, and you’ll just be wondering what’s going to happen next with Naruto and the giant toad.
