Oh, this episode. Yes, M. Night
Shyamalan be damned. Quick episode summary. The gaang goes sees a play about
themselves, but through the eyes of the fire nation. And yeah, it’s the most
filler time wasting episode in possibly the entire show, and it’s just a couple
episodes before the big end. And yeah, they put a lot of their little love into
this. Basically they’re just showing this self awareness to itself. It makes
fun of episodes not everyone liked, for instance they passed over the Great
Divide and were like, "let’s skip that.” And they commented on Jet’s death,
which was awesome. Then they made fun of the Drill episode, kind of saying it
was boring, and I have to disagree, but maybe some fans said that, I don’t
know. And I think the best thing out of the Last Airbender movie was it made
this episode better. And yeah, this is one of those favorite episodes. It has
fun with itself, and has so many more room for jokes. And I laughed a couple
times, but not to make fun of the writers, they’re not amazing. I know it’s PG,
and you can only have so many jokes, but the ideas of their jokes are better
with the execution. But however they did make most of them hit in this episode,
and most weren’t awkward. But I’ll say what I think I’ve said in like three
different reviews of completely different things: Being self aware can
completely change a viewers perspective. If something was trying to be bad, and
nobody knew, people would assume its terrible. But if it was trying to be bad, and
is going for laughs, that’s completely different. Anyway, just little jokes
made me laugh in this. Like when a kid ran up to Zuko and complimented his
outfit, but said his scar was on the wrong side. Genius. And yeah, you could
tell they really wanted to waste time and have fun one last time before the
episode ended, and this was probably one of the best ways it could have. I
think this episode might get too much love, but I remember the first time I
watched it, it was so enjoyable. Then they had the Katara and Aang thing. To me
that was just to get people to think things might not happen as they thought.
That entire thing looking back on it might as well have been throw away. But
yes, this was such an enjoyable episode. It wasted time probably in one of the
best ways possible. Great concept, maybe a little flobby execution at some
parts, but still pretty damn awesome. Just awesome, that’s the best way I can
compliment this episode. And remember as terrible that play, any M. Night
Shyamalan movie was, the effect were still decent.
