Before I begin I will say at the time of this review I haven’t heard any of the other songs from this EP, and hardly any Usher in general. But I believe tracks are tracks, and sometimes you don’t have to, especially singles, which this is. But I was going through my songs and this popped up, and I wanted to review it. I remember a time when I didn’t like music. It was just not really appealing. But I liked music, just in an a really unorganized way. I would listen to my brother’s music, or orbit popular music. And thus I followed this song. I remember really liking it at one point. I remember the VMA’s of this year he performed it, and I think that was the first time I heard it. I resonated with it, and at the times was probably one of my favorite songs. (there was so many) But there a problems as always. And I think the biggest one is the word Pitbull. I didn’t even think Pitbull existed back then, but I’m proven wrong. Pitbull luckily has what is probably twenty seconds on this thing. But when he does, I ask why? Did Usher really want to cut his profits with that feature because he thought Pitbull is such a good name to have on a track. It’s not like he has a fan base that will follow every song he’s on. The song has a groove, and he doesn’t fuck it up, but it’s just like, "oh this part again.” every time. It’s annoying. But other than that, they’re aren’t things holding this track back. If anything is holding it forward, it’s repetition. It’s not bad, but it almost feels like it’s on loop. I think Usher could have widened it with some different sounds or lines, anything really. But it’s still very good, and not taking chances isn’t always a bad thing. I mean I think he took a chance on Pitbull, and look how that worked out. I will say the song has a cool song for DJs. Then again it has a pretty mediocre instrumental to compliment the DJ in its own song. Anyway, it’s a really nice dance song, and doesn’t have a bad video either. Mostly just due to Usher, and he’s basically riding off a hook the entire thing, but damn does he do a good job despite it all. It’s the song that started my relationship from Usher, and although it hasn’t really gone anywhere, maybe this is where it’ll begin.
