Episode 27 Review (The Chunin Exam Stage 2: The Forest Of Death)

So this episode gets things moving along much better. First we are given the rules of the Forest of Death. (Each of the ninjas are given a scroll, but have to posses the second type of scroll by taking it from another team, and then in five days meet at the tower in the center of the forest) All the teams are placed at the gates and given scrolls after signing a paper pretty much saying they don’t care if they die in the forest. Then all teams take off, and Ino, Choji, and Shikamaru’s team is already hiding in bushes and eating bags of potato chips… they’ll get better soon. But surprisingly the first team to beat another seems to be Kiba’s team. I guess having scent and bugs is really on your side when your in a forest. But then as Naruto returns from a pee break, Sasuke starts hammering on him. Turns out it was a fake Naruto, and our episode ends with Sasuke and Sakura looking the opponent down. In the end this episode is way better than the last one, and I really enjoyed the cool start to the Chunin exam, which I believe really started here. The Forest of Death is a really cool idea, and all these ninja in close proximity for five days can only mean chaos. Also I’m excited about the rest of the Chunin exams, which will be awesome! This was a nice start for the real Chunin exams, and a defiant comeback from the last episode, and although the characters aren’t well developed yet, all of them have wide personalities and it’s going to be like a nuclear bomb putting them all in a man eating forest. This is a solid if not high seven for me, and earns the badges as well.
