From now on I’ll be trying to do music reviews every Friday. And since I have three albums going on at once, and many planned after they’re done, I got some work to do. Anyway White America is one of the best songs by Eminem on terms of theme. It sounds almost like a chant from the beginning, and the lyrics are fantastic. This song had the most writers working on it with Eminem, either way this was one of the best put together songs yet. We have to face a lot of the lyrics we hear in songs aren't written by the one we hear, but either way the artist is responsible for them. Anyway, Eminem realizes why he’s popular, and addresses it completely. He mentioned how black kids liked him because of Dre, and how white kids like him because they are "suburban kids who otherwise never would have realized these words exist.” And mentioned how they like him because they can relate, partly because he’s white. If anything he doesn’t look himself in a good light, if anything it’s negative. He tells it completely how it is, and isn’t saying he deserves all the fame, just that he was the right person, in the right place, at the right time, which to me is how all celebrities become famous. And as far as theme goes it’s really incredible. You don’t know if he’s suppose to be dressed for war or politics. It’s probably one of the best ways you start an album. It’s a huge boom, and you really need to think to get it. The lines are well put together, and seems as best they can be. And White America can be just one of several names, but it really works. He says if he was black he wouldn’t sell half, and his skin is working to his benefit when before it was doing the opposite if anything. He again mentions how parents were shocked that he was using the word "faggot,” and others in songs, when he obviously wasn’t the first rapper to do that, but people are upset by him doing it because his music is going to certain people. Another thing, this is one Eminem song I actually don’t mind being censored. It’s almost an ironic pun that’s it’s censored, so I think it works. The music video also is super creepy. It’s one of those videos he’s not actually in, it’s drawn, or animated, or whatever. Those kind of videos I don’t have a problem with, cause sometimes they help, like this one. It’s in Eminem’s eyes, as he travels in White America. It starts in the little elevator, goes to him on stage (through his eyes) and you almost get his perspective of the reason he’s famous. It goes all over, and I think the only black people were the ones they used to show he got black fans from Dre. The video again, is about as good as it can get, and really doesn’t have any problems other than it reused some animation parts which I found annoying. It’s creepy, and dark, but it works. I got goosebumps just watching it now, so take that into consideration. How often will a music video give you goosebumps? In the end it’s a very well done song. And I know there are bad songs by Eminem that I don’t really like, but when you have songs like this to fall back on, it helps, because he sees who he is, and comments on any faults he has. (Although there are few more I wish he’d mention) Anyway, the song I’m giving an eight, although a part of me wants to give it more. But I’m not going to listen to it a whole lot, and although it does sound good, when going through my ipod I’m not going to stop on White America more than some other songs by Eminem. It’s a hell of a way to kick off an album, and up there for best on this album, but I’ll decide that once I’ve finished the reviews.

White America gets a 4/5
