Well, we knew this episode would come eventually. The episode where Rio tries to get a girl. Yep, and somehow by the end Shaman King is giving relationship advice to you. The next team that Team Asakura has to fight consists of random dude, abusive boyfriend, and innocent girlfriend. And Rio falls for her, and then in the episode it’s his time to shine and he gets his turn. He wins the match, teaching the man something, and he actually gets the girl in the end. Yeah, Rio doesn’t sweep her off her feet from the abusive asshole, no he just learns his lesson. Okay, well kind of defeats the purpose, but I like it. Rio is one of my favorite guys, so I like he’s getting attention. I’m assuming this is going to be a small arc where they get into fights to help raise their character, and that each one will get a turn if not most of them. If so, Rio’s could have been better, but it’s still good, so I won’t complain. I just don’t buy Rio cares much for this sacred hang that his Shaman King goal is, and for the most part he’s mostly just there to help Yoh and the others realize their dream, as that’s more of his dream. Anyway, good episode, actually great. Just not as good as I wanted, and I’m pretty sure the English dub I’m watching censored the girl getting bitch slapped, because something was up that was dumbed down. Damn you 4kids, they’re trying to teach kids about relationships! And nothing says good dating tips when being raised like a woman getting bitch slapped across the face… okay I can get why they censored that.
