Episode 25 Review (Avatar Day)

Avatar Day celebration Episode 25 Review (Avatar Day)

So yeah, this episode started off as okay, and by the time it ended it was really great. First let’s get Zuko’s part out of the way. He’s really down with the whole poverty thing, and yeah, he’s using the Blue Spirit to start robbing people. And of course Iroh without really telling him it’s wrong, or that he should stop, offers kind and intelligent words. And what does Zuko do… he returns the—psych! He leaves Iroh, and goes off on his own! All right! So yeah, Iroh even is doing the wise card at this part, and it’s one of those things you’re like, "Wait, what?” And meanwhile, the gAang after a run in with the Fire Nation enter a Earth Kingdom village, and you really get the feeling it will be another version of the early Kyoshi episode… it’s the exact opposite. Avatar Day is actually like a Satanist fuck the Avatar day. Kyoshi killed their old leader or whatever, and they live in spite a couple hundred years later, I guess that’s what a holiday will do to. And yeah, Aang being the honorable guy abides by their punishment trying to clear his name. And although he can leave, he’d rather talk to prisoners about his crush on Katara! Sorry, that was hilarious. Meanwhile Katara and Sokka go Sherlock Homes, and they dig up the truth! They even go back to Kyoshi island where Suki is gone, but not to fear, FOAMING MOUTH GUY! Sorry, I felt like seeing him again, even if just once. But yeah, they get enough evidence for… nothing really, they’re still dicks to Aang. But Aang is allowed to at least try and redeem himself, and what do you know, Kyoshi shows herself. Like completely. She goes into this back-story where she separated Kyoshi Island to save her people from the tyrant that was this guy they loved, and she kind of accidentally killed the guy, but is still like, "Yeah, I killed him.” And yeah, after that Aang is found guilty, and is to be BOILED IN OIL!!! That is hilariously cruel. But everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. After that the crime is moved to Community Services buy the guy from Mulan, and Aang kicks some Fire Nation ass… and one thing. Aang doesn’t kill people right? I’ve let that slide before on how some of them could live. But he airbends one of the dudes off the cliff! The cliff somebody died from falling off of! Oh so he lived and just rock-climbed his way back up there? Come on, just airbend him into a house or something! And yeah, Aang and the others are all peachy with the town. And yeah, I loved this episode. It just had everything. It was funny, it had those bigger moments, some fighting, character development, and plot development while also bring up that old "filler,” right? Anyway, damn good episode. Worst town they’ve been to, but one of the best episodes yet. All hail the Avatar, for it is Avatar Day! Or boil him in oil, whichever you prefer.
