I hate how
English dubs have different episode names. For the record we’re going with the
Japanese names, after all we’re going to have to review episodes that aren’t
even in the English dub. Anyway, with that out of the way, we can get on with
episode 2. And yes, Jesse and James strike. (Not going with the Japanese names,
okay? It’s a little back and forth) But anyway, they strike, and this is when
they’re actually… cool? Good? I mean, they remind of android seventeen and
eighteen, not the bumbling idiots later in the series. Anyway, pretty simple
episode. First Ash gets to the Pokemon center, talks to Oak and his mom, then
Misty comes in and looks ready to beat his ass. (I’m pretty confident she
could) but of course Ash has a injured Pokemon… from then on it was all in the
bag. Seriously, Pikachu, the perfect wingman. But as I was saying, after that
Team Rocket arrive, and their introduction is a little cheesy. I did facepalm a
couple parts with Meowth. Also, Koffing… that face. He looks like he’s tripping
balls twenty-four seven. Not to mention its name is Koffing… and it evolves
into Weezing. And Ekans is snake backwards, they really didn’t try hard on some
of these names. But anyway, of course the team fights back and THEY BLOW UP THE
FUCKING HOSPITAL!? WTF ASH! Defeated the weak bad guys, but you could’ve killed
hundreds of innocent little Pokemon. But anyway, the episode ends with Ash in
the forest, about to capture his first Pokemon. All in all this was a great
episode, so I’m thinking a light four. Once that classic of the beginning of
the show fades, I think we’ll see more mediocre episodes, but until then, we
have some ground to cover. Got to meet Brock, get out of this forest, the whole
shebang. And we’ll cover the next adventure on the next episode.
