Episode 57 Review (He Flies! He Jumps! He Lurks! Chief Toad Appears!)

I love how the title of the episode makes it seems like the toad is a superhero. Anyway all of this episode is dedicated to two things. One, to show exactly why the sand village betrayed the leaf, and how that whole thing is going, and also the little challenge between Naruto and the Chief Toad Gamabunta. Naruto basically demands that if he can stay on Gamabunta’s back all day, he is master. Without even really agreeing, Gamabunta starts trying to get Naruto off. But while all this is going on we start seeing why the Sand Village is going to betray the leaf. They show that their leader who made the treaty is destroying their village with it and blah, blah, blah. (There’s a good enough reason, but in the end you get the point) But for the first time we see as Temari and the others while they are talking about it, and it seems they don’t exactly want to destroy the leaf, they’re just taking orders. Gaara, he doesn’t either, he just wants to murder people. But the best part is Gamabunta. Gamabunta is awesome, and for a giant toad he has a lot of character. Even though Naruto has zero chakra from summoning the guy, he doesn’t loosen up for a second. He’s jumping under water, going hundreds of feet high, and he just doesn’t give a shit if Naruto dies on his back. But then at the end of the day when Naruto’s celebrating, and he passes out in mid-celebration. But then as his body falls Gamabunta catches his body, saving his life. Jiraiya even throws his scroll out with the list of names of the people who marked their name on the scroll like a unanimous person tossed it over. Then the episode ends as Gamabunta leaves his body outside of a hospital. Naruto’s already broke, but now he’s so lucky to pay hospital bills alongside the property damage from Gamabunta’s giant ass footprints that were right next to Naruto. Poor Naruto. Anyway the episode is really great, and followed up the last one really well, and if the next episode is good it’ll be on a roll it’s needed for awhile. Also this gave the sand ninjas a little more, and Gamabunta’s a bad ass. Yes. A. Toad. Is. A. Bad. Ass!
