Pokemon Soul Silver/Heart Gold Review

 Pokemon Soul Silver/Heart Gold Review
Genre: RPG
Developer: Game Freak
System I played On: Nintendo DS
Year: 2010

First off this is based off of Soul Silver, and not Heart Gold. Sorry, but could only play Soul Silver. I’ve stated before I’m a fan of the Pokemon series, so much it’s probably my favorite Nintendo franchise. This is the first game in the series I’m reviewing, and I thought what better place to start than my favorite. With these games usually the newest one is my favorite, but since I haven’t played a game since Pokemon Black version, and this holds a special place in my heart, this currently is my favorite. My Pokemon playing was simple. My bro just randomly started playing my old Pokemon Pearl that I practically forgot about, and me being a dumb ass much more close minded person at the time, thought Pokemon was only for children. But I could take a lesson from my days back from Kingdom Hearts, and decided why not try it. I smacked in my old Pokemon Leaf Green, and then shit went down. I went to Pearl because my brother was no longer playing and because Soul Silver was around the corner in release date. But I went through Pearl, and then I got Soul Silver for my birthday, but it was still my brother’s file. But then he finally let me play, and it was awesome. I moved all my Pokemon through Leaf Green and Pearl to Soul Silver. I was the Pokemon master. But it led me to buy Emerald, Platinum, and eventually Black, which is where my Pokemon currently hail. But I remember Soul Silver. My mom had a shop going where I would work over the counter, and I would just play Pokemon all day while I did that. And with the money I earned doing that job, I could buy a second DS, and my Pokemon games. That was well over a hundred dollars, and that kind of money was crazy talk. But I didn’t really collect things as much back then, and whatever I did, I did sloppily, and so that money seemed smart at the time. And that fucking summer I was a Pokemon freak. Soul Silver taught me how to multi task at everything. To this day I have multi task abilities because it taught me how to do things as I played Soul Silver. And now I do twice as many things, so thank you Soul Silver. None of that has to do with this game, but this is my review, so my back-story. Anyway, there are actual in game reasons why I also love Soul Silver. One, Lugia who is the face of the game, happens to be my favoriteist of all Pokemon. Second, it has so much more. It has two regions, so many more Pokemon, so many more legendaries, so much more to make it feel like a whole world. Mt. Silver will always be my favorite place to train Pokemon, it’s dope. Also it has Red, and he’s just bad ass. I didn’t really play any of the games before Leaf Green, so I never really got far on the original Silver version, so I can’t really say much on how they improved the game. But for my perspective it’s a lot better. It starts out old school style, pick a Pokemon, next town, rival, gym leader, you know the game by now. Pokemon is completely different every time, and exactly the same, I swear to God. But once you finish the game, your only half done. You have to go all the way to Kanto, and once your there you have eight more gym leaders to fight, more legendaries to catch, then you have to beat Red. It really is the most fun game to me, and the legendary fever is always fun to me. You get Groudon or Kyogre, Latios or Latias, the three birds, the three dogs, both Lugia and Ho-oh, Mewtwo, it gets really crazy. Not only that, but you get three starters, one from each of the first three gens. Also I love going from generation to generation, cool landscape to cool landscape. Also you can fight gym leaders after you already beat them. there is the safari zone which is really bad ass in this game, and you can just get your Pokemon from Pokemon the gameboy games like it’s nothing. But this also allowed me to catch Pokemon like Scyther, and others I had been missing. It’s a game that I was this close from putting on the hall of fame, but I just can’t get it there. I’m sure it will be surpassed as I eventually catch up on Pokemon games, but for now, it holds the number one spot. I might go back and review other Pokemon games like Emerald, Pear/Diamond and others, but for now let’s just have Soul Silver. I am also going to start a character review series of all Pokemon, and review each and ever Pokemon, God knows how long that’ll take. But the Pokemon series is possibly my favorite, right next to Fallout, Mass Effect, and others. And Soul Silver being my favorite is an important place in my collection. I was about to give it a ten, but that’s mostly because I kind of want it to be in the Hall of Fame just because it’s my favorite, but I don’t really feel like it’s quite at ten out of ten material, and the hall of fame is ten out of ten exclusive. But it’s still an elite, and for a series that’s more or less the same thing over and over, getting a nine is pretty huge. I don’t know how many of the Pokemon games will score this high, but we’ll see what the future decides. Until then there is a never ending amount of Pokemon reviews, including characters, anime, games, the list goes on. I don’t really watch the anime, but that’s one of the things about Pokemon, it seemingly never fucking ends.

Pokemon Soul Silver gets a 5/5

Spoilers: For Pokemon games there isn’t much to spoil. I got a shiny unknown, and it fucking sucked, so there’s your spoiler.
