Episode 1 Review Episode 1 (Pilot) Review
My name is Earl was a old series I remember watching when I was younger. I'd get it recorded, and I don't remember it being the best show ever. But I remember it being funny, and it had a cool concept. And that will take us to our synopsis. Earl is a weird dude from a small town that steals stuff. He lives with his brother and accidentally married a pregnant girl at a bar. Then she had a son that wasn't him, and now they live together. But then he gets hit by a car right after getting a winning lottery ticket. So while in the hospital, his wife tricks him into signing divorce papers and to hand over their trailer. Then he hears on the T.V. Carson Daly talking about karma. So he decides to make a list of all the bad things he's done and he will now one by one cross them off by doing good. Then for starting this list, and picking up some trash, he finds his old lottery ticket. As a yin-yang type person, I really like that idea. So for the first episode he goes to this kid he used to pick on, and he sees he's lonely. So he tries to get him a girl, but turns out he's gay. And being a dude in a country small town, that guy is really weird. But then he gets beat up by Joy (his now ex-wife) and he realizes he has to go back. And when he does, he brings him to a gay bar that he was too scared to ever go to. So the guy thanks him for giving the confidence that Earl took away when he was young. And he says the guy who bullied him accepted him for who he was, and I thought that was a good idea for it. I just hoped while dealing with this, they'd go into some kind of social commentary. But thirty minutes, they were starting the show, it can be finished with the he gave him his confidence thing. Anyway, I felt like I was reliving a lot of old feelings watching a show I hadn't seen in years, and I really liked it. I thought this was a really good introductory show, and an excellent pilot.
