Episode 4 Review (Pass Or Fail: Survival Test)

Just from the beginning I would like to say Kakashi Sensei alongside Shikamaru are my favorite characters. And this is the real introduction for Kakashi. Right when he walks in, the first thing he says to his pupils is that they’re a bunch of idiots. I’ll be honest I just broke out laughing at that part. One of the reason I love Kakashi so much is he’s one of those guys who knows he’s a bad ass, but doesn’t have to brag about it, but he still manages to be a smart ass. The only other character I really think of like that is Garrus from Mass Effect series, and so they’re both bad asses to me. Kakashi introduces himself, and hearing his take of the others makes him look mysterious, smart, and just well Kakashi and all his bad assness. And it gives us a really great simple understanding of the characters and how they are all completely different. Sakura is the stupid teenage girl, Naruto is the air head who bites off more than he can chew, and Sasuke is the emo kid who wants to kill his brother. Seeing them undeveloped and childish knowing what they’ll become is really cool. And Kakashi doesn’t care. He could hate them for all you know, he even laughs as he tells them they’re all likely to lose the survival test that will determine weather they’ll actually become ninja. And he’s such an ass, he’s late even though he told them to arrive at five a.m. with no meal. And as the battle goes on it’s really entertaining for me. Naruto of course is rampaging in while the others hide, and I have to say when the clones jumped from the water and the ninja music was playing I thought it was about to go down. But then it all goes down hill for Naruto. But then he leaves an opening and Sasuke decks him with a couple weapons, and it ends on a cliffhanger of it looks like he killed him. Anyway the episode as a whole was really great, I thought it was awesome, but it still felt short of getting a nine, which I thought I was about to give it as I was watching it. It needed a little more, but by truly debuting my favorite character as well as start a really fun to watch survival exercise, it lands a solid eight.
