Hot 16's gets a 3/5
All right a little has changed since the Sag My Pants review. I’ve finally been able to listen to a lot more Eminem, and I’m pretty sure Em is my favorite rapper now. But Hopsin still was first, his music is still real, and I like a lot of his tracks. A part of me wants to go from album to album with these reviews, and review a lot of songs from one track, and throw a couple more that I feel like talking about like I did with my second review. So I’ll probably be making a lot more reviews specifically to songs from Hopsin’s Raw album, then I’ll move to another album, probably by Eminem cause I’ve been listening to him a lot lately. I know I’m late as fuck to the party but I’ve only really been listening to rap for less than a year so cut me some slack. But anyway back to Hot 16’s! If you’ve listened to the Raw album you’ll know that Hot 16s started off the album. In the view as an album starter this is pretty nice song. This is more of a default song. Most of Hopsin’s songs on Raw follow a simple idea or message, whereas Hot 16s is more like the song where he was just rapping for rapping. It’s skilled, and by no means a bad song, but to me it isn’t really as good as some of the others because it was so absent. Definitely a great album starter, but as individual song it isn’t as good. Still sounds great, still has very skilled lyrics that still gain it the Lyrical Badge, but most of the songs on this album earn both the lyrical badge AND the message badge. Sag My Pants was a little different because it was so god damn entertaining and bad ass to listen to, but Hot 16’s is still a great song despite not being as quite as good as some of the other tracks on the list. Or at least in my opinion. Usually two songs by Hopsin means it’s probable at least one got the message badge, but it was mostly a coincidence that I picked two songs that didn’t. The song however still is great for the album, even though not as great on it’s own. I mean I’m listening to it now and I can tell it’s got probably just as good as flow as Sag My Pants, but this track just isn’t quite as memorable, plus a music video could of helped.
