Why am I so bad at being good!?
Good question Zuko, possibly
because you’re an emo kid with half a burnt face, they’re usually not the good
guys. Anyway, the team regroups, and they fall back to the western air temple.
And Zuko is trying his best to think of ways to join the group. He has a really
funny conversation with a frog, and it’s not so much it’s a frog, but it’s how
he’s talking that’s funny. That Jake Long comedy coming from Zuko’s voice
actor, proving he can do comedy. Then he presents himself, and yeah, he fucks
up. Although Appa is grateful for freeing him and is licking him like he’s an
old friend, the group is more than hesitant. I don’t like how Aang is just flat
no, he can’t join. I mean there hasn’t been much Aang and Zuko since he helped
kill him, but even with that, I feel like Aang wouldn’t do that. And that’s my
main problem with the character, he does things that don’t seem like he would
do just to help the story. Love him to death, but that’s why he’s not even in
my top five or anything. But yeah, Toph is the reasonable one for once, and
tries to help Zuko by meeting with him. But of course, it doesn’t go well, and
he burns her feet accidentally. And Toph freaks out and fleas. And I love Zuko
getting buried, and rarely ever do you see it blow up in his face so
wonderfully. But then Combustion Man shows up, of course Zuko helps stop him,
then it’s a cool fight. But yeah, he gets merced.
I actually didn’t remember this, and I assumed nobody died in Avatar. So yeah…
that was a nice treat I guess? Anyway, after that of course the group is
starting to come around, Aang does need a fire bender teacher after all. But
you can see nobody really thinks this is a great idea, despite how bad Zuko
wants this. And then Katara at the end is pretty much like, "Fool me once shame
on you, fool me again, you’re fucking dead.” And I loved it. Katara is more cut
throat than anyone in the group when she needs to. Anyway, I adored this episode,
possibly even more than the big eclipse episode before it that got hyped. I
love Zuko episodes, and I loved the chemistry. If anything, I didn’t like the
other kids being pushed away like they’re little children. I mean would Haru
really care that much about checking out the area with the little kids? I
wouldn’t have cared, but they didn’t twice, and at that point they’re really
doing it. But nitpicking, still loved it.
