Episode 23 Review (Return to Omashu)

New Ozai Episode 23 Review (Return to Omashu)

Okay, let’s talk about what the bad guys do first, then the good guys. Azula has decided to make a group to go after Zuko and his uncle. First she meets Ty Lee, one of my top ten favorite characters from the show. She’s a carefree circus performer that’s care free and has really big eyes. And Azula asks her to join and she says no, but Azula is clearly planning something. She watches her show on this big throne, and she basically makes Ty Lee’s performance a death trap. Afterwards she says, "Can’t wait to see the next one.” Which if you can’t read bullshit, she secretly said, "I’m going to keep making your shows extremely fucking dangerous until you eventually die.” And Ty Lee just kind of goes along with saying, "Oh epiphany, I think I should go with you.” And if you can’t speak bullshit, she says, "Well I like living, so why don’t I tag along?” And so they go to Omashu to recruit Mai, a kind of goth I don’t care about the world character. While there, they take care of business in Omashu. And the king has to make a trade between the king and the baby who was stolen by the local fighters. And when they’re there, she says screw that noise, and just goes after them, but turns out it’s Team Avatar. So the three on three fight goes on while Aang tries to save Bumi while also fighting Azula. But Bumi saves the day as he earth bends while also trapped, and Sokka saves Katara after she almost loses to Ty Lee and Mai and they escape. And she says they have a new target meaning Aang. Meanwhile Team Avatar stumbles onto the new Omashu, (I actually really love this part with Sokka where they sneak in because as they’re bending their way around this it shows something about his character) and find a new way in. And they use these weird creatures to make the whole town seem sick, and the bad guys know that the disease is deadly and contagious. So I guess this guy isn’t a total dick, he just lets them leave but doesn’t kill them which kind of seems smarter from evil firebender mindset. But yeah then they find Momo accidentally snatched the king’s baby, and that’s when that whole deal thing goes around, and then big awesome fight, and then big awesome escape. Aang manages to save Bumi, or I guess Bumi managed to save Aang or… ok they got away, right? But Bumi kind of just bitch slaps Aang with some weird philosophy shit. It’s about the neutral jing, and knowing when to strike. Yeah, another kind of cool thing about the show. Anyway, more Bumi, and that’s cool. And two new cool characters, that’s cool. Sokka was actually really good in this, and Aang was more Avatar-e. And just a cool idea for an episode, all packed up together to make a really dope episode yet again. Seriously back to back to back, this is why I love Book 2 so much.
