Episode 64 Review (Long Live the King)

Episode 64 Review (Long Live the King)

Well, this is going to be the last time, and the final episode review of Shaman King. It’ll be my first series I’ve reached a completion in reviews, and let’s just say I’m very happy…

Yoh and Zeke’s battle carries on, and Yoh seems to be completely outmatched. Zeke now devoured the King of Spirits, seems pretty much invincible. But Yoh gathers strength from those around him, and he in the end achieves a new level of strength and him and Amidamaru become one in a massive new form of Amidamaru. Yoh says how the new form must be what Shaman King is being like, as he knows the furyoku and courage and fears of everyone. He says Zeke’s downfall is that he may have the power of the King of Spirits, but he does not have his heart. The two fight, and then the big moment happens. And the winner, is Yoh. Yoh comes out the victor, and as Zeke is destroyed in a flash of oblivion, Doby Village, the Circle of Pillars, and all trace of the Shaman Tournament is gone, and they are back in the desert. After that the epilogue begins, and we start resolutions with each character. Faust and Eliza go back to being a couple, Trey tries his best to help the Minutians by hand, Morty, Yoh, and Anna go back to school and their everyday lives. Rio hit’s the road, Lyserg is seen hitting the books, (Um, does he go to school or something) Len is going to Yoh’s place to hang out (a little embarrassed by the way) and  Joco tries to do comedy in the big city, but not with too much succession. Then as it seems everyone is about to go back to their normal lives, the Destiny Star shoots across the sky, and it seems the Shaman Tournament is back on. The last image shows as the Oracle Bell lights up, and it seems a Shaman King will be found. I will say the ending isn’t fantastic and awesome, as it was sort of leading too. The Zeke fight still went on for multiple episodes, and was indeed epic, even in the finale. As for the resolution, I wish it would have lingered a little longer. It was really heartwarming, and everyone lived, but that doesn’t mean it was super touching. I know the manga is different, and hopefully since I know it’s much longer it’s more touching. I know the author of Shaman King is very into his work, and has a longer more complex manga, and also continued a story about Yoh and Anna’s child. But for the anime, it’s time we close the book. I have to say I’m a big fan of this series, and it’s been really special for me to review an entire anime series, and I have many more planned. You can expect my review of the entire series, as well as some character reviews, and maybe some top ten lists. And we may not have an official Shaman King, but that is whoever you want it to be. Hell, Morty can be your Shaman King, I know he’s up to grab for mine. Anyway, I want to give a final appreciation for SHAMAN KING!
