Pokemon Origins Episode 1 Review (Red)

 Episode 1 (Red) Review

Last year Pokemon thought they’d do something different in their anime department. They made a four episode special of Pokemon that would be based entirely off of the original games Red and Blue. This not only caused a nostalgia overload, but it cut a lot of the BS coming out of the series and let fans finally watch a character achieve the ultimate goal after all. And we start here on the first episode where we meet Red, a classic character from Pallet Town. And you can probably guess he goes and receives a Pokemon from Professor Oak alongside his rival, Blue. (Or Green, whatever) And the two set off on their journey. He ACUTALLY CATCHES SOME POKEMON, but then fights Blue, and he loses. Yeah, that scene everybody talks about with the Squirtle biting the fuck out of Charmander, it’s not fun. Not fun at all. But soon he gets a lesson from Brock… who looks awfully different. And he teaches him a lesson followed by his first gym fight. And it’s a classic Pokemon lesson to be in sync with yo’ Pokemon, bonding, and all that good shit. The first episode is a wonderful kick start, and yes, very nostalgia and classical. (I’ll probably use those two words at least a hundred times in these four episode reviews) But yes, a great episode, and a wonderful start. The feels, they come.

Pokemon: Origins Episode 1 (Red) gets a 4/5
