Episode 40 Review (Kakashi and Orochimaru: Face-to-Face!)

So the episode begins with Orochimaru and Kakashi talking. It doesn’t last long and after that it’s Shino and the sound ninja guy get going, and turns out Shino is like a human bug hive. A bunch of random beetles appear behind the sound guy and he looks beat. But the sound guy then gets a back-story, a fair one at that. It adds to his character a little how Orochimaru took him under his wing, even if just to mess with his mind. The sound guy actually seems determined, and not fighting for a paycheck. He even raises his broken arm. But then the part after that is actually really cool as Orochimaru talks about the whole pawn thing as his the sound guy sees Shino covered his sound holes with bugs and then decks him. And how is line about having two aces in the hole is better than one really was cool, and matched the epic music. Then the Orochimaru and Kakashi discussion ends as Orochimaru turns his back, and says if Kakashi wants to kill him that’s his only opportunity. And Kakashi doesn’t take it, he’s that out classed. Whenever you can make Kakashi shake like that, you’re a good villain. Anyway we see that the Shino and Sound ninja fight ends as the sound ninja guy (Is his name Zaku? I’m pretty sure that’s right) actually had destroyed his arms when he send out the sound waves to his hands. They were plugged up, so they just blew up in his arms. Then Neji uses his Byakugan to see that Shino had all those bugs living inside of him, and we learn his clan has some weird partnership with bugs… yeah. After that we see round three, which is Kankuro vs. one of the guys from Kabuto’s team. (That team looks like it’s really doing good so far) The episode ends as the two face off. In the end this episode was actually another good but not fantastic episode. It’s more or less characters you don’t care a whole lot about, but it’s interesting, and really helped Shino’s character while also keeping you interested with the Kakashi and Orochimaru talk. So far we have Shino and Sasuke in the finals, it keeps you wondering you the future will turn out, and which ninja will fight who, which is the best part.
