Vocaloid Music/Hatsune Miku

"Creative Topic" #8 Vocaloid Music/Hatsune Miku

Here’s a Creative Topic that follows more on the creative side. A vocaloid is basically a artificial musician that is entirely made of computers. The music, and person, is a computer. And yes, you can go to a concert, and see a fucking hologram perform, and it’s basically the same thing, except she’s not real. I found this on Youtube, and have been intrigued ever since. I’ve stated before out of literature, music, cinema, and gaming, that music is my least favorite. There are too many songs and artists that don’t make any lyrical sense, and are still popular, and wouldn’t be if they were just something as simple as ugly. And just one Google search you can see how these people grew up, and the background don’t fit how they’re acting, how they act in real life by clicking on their Twitter (and trust me, somebody making a good song can still be a very shitty human being by just looking this up) and a million other things that can make you not like that artist. And a lot of the music these people make aren’t even written by them, and all their music is pretty music done by a computer, then people bitch if they lip sync, or even use a computer. A lot of rock music listeners complain pop artists autotune or do something they don’t like that involves computers. But if they think that a person made their music without a computer involved, they are mistaken. Ultimately their music can be made into the real thing a lot easier in a concert, but to me what they’re listening to outside the concert is just as fake as the most autotuned pop artist out there. So basically what I’m trying to say is musicians are celebrities, and celebrities ninety percent of the time are pretty shitty human beings compared to a lot of people, and can be completely brainwashed in their own glory they don’t even deserve. That’s why when I listen to an artist, I don’t even consider their real life attitude, as that’s probably just as fake as Hatsune Mike. People say how they want to marry or meet these people in real life, and they essentially are starstruck by these people, even though a lot of the music they make aren’t that good lyrically, and they aren’t exactly the best people ever. And then that goes into what I’ll talk about next. Hatsune Miku is a fake artificially created diva, and other people write her music, make her voice on a computer, and hologram her to make a concert. Now I’d like to rewind a little bit before I say my opinion on this. Let’s just assume Justin Bieber is the biggest pop star right now. I saw a Youtube video where he puked on stage, and ran off. While this was going on, the entire concert kept going. His music kept playing (he was lip synching, get over it) and the dancers and everyone else just kept doing their thing. So, basically Justin Bieber was there for the sake of being there. Justin Bieber was given bags of money, just so little girls could see him, even though they haven’t even spoken to the real person, and assume they love him, even though they don’t a fucking know thing about him in real life. So what I’m trying to say is Justin Bieber and any artist to me is already as fake as Hatsune Miku, and the only difference is they can spoken to, and touched. As far as Hatsune Miku goes, I’ve never listened to a full song, never googled what the words she sings are in English (she’s a Japanese artist, and much more well known in Japan, and even has an anime look) So, I’ll stick to the benefits of this, and talk just a little more after that. First, Hatsune Miku isn’t going to puke and run off stage. Second, nobody gives a shit if she’s autotuned, she’s not fucking real, so you’re an idiot if you actually care. Third, everyone who complains about Justin Bieber’s gay hair, female voice, and how everybody wants to marry him, that doesn’t happen to Hatsune Miku. Anyone arguing how a computer should look is an idiot, and no, you cannot marry them, and crushing over something that isn't real is even more stupid than crushing over a celebrity you've never met. Fourth, the people who write her lyrics, and generate her voice, can be really great people, not make a ridiculous amount of profit while everyone else is making shit compared to it, and no, don’t have to be gorgeous in the process. That being said that's also a chance the evil guys in suits we always imagine who run labels could have a chance to write the songs, so that could be bad, but hopefully they actually hire good people for this. Fifth, Hatsune Miku will never die, never get sniped on stage, never get old, never get kicked out of clubs and end up on TMZ, never get addicted on cocaine, and nobody has to cringe when they see she wrote on Twitter, and see she’s not very nice. An artist can’t be perfect, because unlike movies, games, and literature, they’re people. But people are always going to be flawed, as that's' reality, and thus can’t make a perfect song, and become a perfect artist. If an artist wants to make a feel good song saying you don’t have to do drugs, drink, or have sex, that’s kind of hard when they themselves do all that, and more. And of course, Hatsune Miku can, and nobody can say shit. (although seeing what anime characters wear sometimes, singing about how sex is wrong is a bad example) Also, there are so many opportunities to make better songs with this. Now people don’t have to bitch that their artist isn’t making the songs they sing. Hatsune Miku or any vocaloid can make any type of song they want, and an actual person with lyrical skill can write them, but now get paid. And what if there was a whole band of vocaloids? You could have one do sad songs, one do happy songs, one do angry songs, the themes and messages you could give are endless. You could create a character do represent poor people, and they relate to that song. You could have a character represent the swag persona that a lot of rapper people like, and they make those songs, you could make a nerdy character, a joke character, the possibilities are endless. I mention lyrics, messages, and themes are a big part of a song, and all those can be improved with this. Also, you can do whatever you want with these characters. Hell, make them fly, who cares? Make them a ten foot tall giant, who cares? Get a dozen of them and make them do a physically impossible dance in slow motion, who cares? Make their hair green for a song where green fits more, even better! And the money for photo shoots and music videos? Hell, draw them, there's your photo shoot, and the music videos are animated, so you can do whatever you want in those too. Make her sing on Jupiter for all I care. When people see an artist, what they see is about as real as Hatsune Miku, and hell, if the lyrics produced by her writers are good enough, she might be even more real than the persona musicians take on when they perform. And while Bieber is puking backstage, Hatsune Miku is up there doing her thing for eternity. And when you ask why don’t you like this artist, your not saying because they’re addicts, or they’re have gay hair, or they wouldn’t be that popular if they were ugly, or the fan-base is a bunch of little girls who want to marry them, you just hear the music, and all bullshit is cut aside. I’m just saying this has a shit ton of potential, not that all musicians should be computers. I’m saying a song can be a lot better with all this crap thrown to the side, and themes, lyrics, messages, and more can come into play. Is it stupid people pay money to get into a concert to simply see a hologram perform? Yes. (although with how technology could improve, and the more crazy shit she can do, it actually could get pretty bad ass in the future) Is it stupid that people pay money to simply see a person, even though they don’t act like how they are on stage, and don’t even need to be there? Yes. "But she’s not real!” Good, I don’t have to hear how she beat her spouse, got kicked out of a club for getting in fights while intoxicated, and don’t have to hear them sound like an idiot in interviews. But now there isn’t celebrities showing hours late, canceling performances, and people won't bitch about them lip syncing. It’s a computer, arguing with it is about as smart as arguing with a wall. You argue with the direction they take with it, which is how music should be criticized, and not how they act in real life, or lip sync, or how they didn’t actually write their own music.
