Kingdom Hearts II: Oh Demyx… fuck you, you kind of likeable guy. That’s how I think that’s a good way to start, don’t you? I believe that the characters in Chain of Memories are usually better than those introduced in Kingdom Hearts II. In Chain of Memories there isn’t as much going on, and there was more room to get down the characters, and less emphasis on heroes, as you don’t see most. In Kingdom Hearts II, most don’t have much time, and don’t leave much remembrance, but Demyx is an exception. But that exception isn’t because he is fantastic. You first encounter him in Hercules’s story, and he’s the first member I actually met without a hood on. He seems to undermine himself, and you wonder how he got a job where he is seems so out of place. You fight him in the Hallow Bastion War, and that’s where you defeat him. During then, he annoys the shit out of you, shouting "DANCE WATER DANCE!” and not to forget, "LIKE IT!?” And it gets pretty fucking annoying. He’s pretty easy to hate is what I’m trying to say. But he leaves more of a hit than let’s say Luxord or Xigbar. And I remember in 358/2 Days he hadn’t been in the group to go to Castle Oblivion to die, and he has an importance. But you’re not sure why at first. Will he annoy Sora to death? Will his water guitar or whatever it is destroy him? Or will he use enough of his annoying one-liners in battle until they drive enough force of pain in suffering that nuclear weapons get jealous? But he makes the battle of a thousand heartless somehow better, and it’s fulfilling to kill him, and he makes the team more unique. But in truth, the nobodies don’t even feel emotion, and they usually pretend to act like they do, and Demyx is acting like he does for a reason, and eventually drops the act. And that kind of puts more emotion on, "oh bad guy who has little personality.” He’s the comedic relief, and the one guy stands out, and that’s enough to give this side character a three.
