Episode 22 (Chunin Challenge: Rock Lee vs. Sasuke) Episode 22 Review (Chunin Challenge: Rock Lee vs. Sasuke)
So we learn more about Lee as he clearly from the title of the episode, challenges Sasuke. And we learn more of the fact he’s a weird little dude. Lee’s probably the most quirky character in the whole series so you can see why this episode might be more cheesy at times. But anyway Lee thinks he’s hot shit and challenges Sasuke. But Naruto objects and throws himself at Lee and gets flattened to the side of the match. But Sasuke decides he’ll take a shot at Lee and throws himself only to land on the ground just like Naruto. It was like all the Sasuke fan girls fell to the ground with him as the weirdo kicked his ass. But Sasuke is kind of like Vegeta from DBZ, when he gets his ass kicked, whoever did it made himself look like a bad ass doing it, and is officially a good character… and this time it had to be… Lee. Sorry comparing Broly and Frieza kicking Vegeta’s ass to Lee beating Sasuke was a mistake. Anyway Sasuke rises again, but uses the Sharingan. But it’s basically worthless compared to Lee’s Taijutsu. Lee was basically almost made to beat Sasuke, but now that Sasuke has lost twice in both cases he used his Sharingan, I really am starting to feel like it’s worthless. But just before Lee finishes Sasuke for good he gets stopped by a talking turtle… yeah. Then the talking turtle call forth Guy Sensei. The first impression the show has on Guy is he’s a weird guy "no pun intended” who has the same cut and style as Lee. So you think "Oh, maybe that’s his dad.” Than Guy decks Lee across the face and his blood falls all over and you think, "Wow, I’ve never been so wrong in my life.” Then Guy and Lee somehow end up in a crying fest in each other’s hugging arms… I think we’re all far past a simple what the hell face. We got a weirdo beating up Sasuke, a talking turtle, and a adult Lee who goes from breaking his fist against his face and then hugging him with tears in his eyes. It’s a weird episode to say the least. Than Guy tells us a little more about him and tells how he’s arch-rivals with Kakashi, and that he’s beat him fifty times, and lost to him forty-nine times… my fav character Kakashi lost to this guy fifty times… oh God. Guy leaves, and so does Lee after the message, "I actually didn’t want to fight you, but another stronger person on my squad named Neji, you were just practice, and I’ll crush you.” Wonderful, Sasuke was reduced to one of the top characters to practice to the weirdest dude in the show. But anyway Sasuke reflects in probably the best way he can by not whining, but instead looking forward to how interesting things are getting in the Chunin exam, where our episode ends. In the end this was a very unique episode and very quirky for me, but still not bad. I’d like an explanation on the talking turtle, but I guess I don’t get one. Anyway not a bad episode, and definitely worth at least a six. It was good character development for Lee and Guy while also hyping the Chunin exams which I wish would just start already.
