Episode 20 Review (Goku's Ancestors)

 Episode 20 Review (Goku's Ancestors)

I think my favorite line from this episode was, "I’m going to squash you like the bug that you are!” Although this episode is titled after the part where King-Kai talks to Goku about his ancestors, the part where he meets Gregory and goes through King-Kai’s second test I find a lot better. I also like how the majority of the episode is based on King-Kai’s planet, this is really the only episode where that happens. Although you have short segments with Piccolo and Gohan (Piccolo stomps on Gohan’s hand while he’s dangling from a cliff, always good training method) and the guys at Kami’s lookout. (Although it lasted  for about five seconds Yamcha and Tien had a good fight) But after that is the part where King-Kai tells Goku about the origin story of the Saiyans, and planet Vegeta. He tells him about the ancient war with the Tuffel (this is later brought up in DBZ and DBGT a lot) The part about the Saiyans thwarting the Tuffles was actually a pretty big role in DBZ, and very interesting. Also King-Kai mentions the Arcosians, a race I think is probably Frieza’s, or some race before King Vegeta met and did business with before Frieza. But after that, King-Kai tells Goku Planet Vegeta had some kind of guardian that had done the just thing of attracting meteors to blow the planet up. Even people who hardly know anything from DBZ would know that’s not true, and this is a plot hole. It’s tiny, and could easily be said that was a cover up story Frieza said after he destroyed Planet Vegeta, and King-Kai did not know, or King-Kai just lied to Goku so he’d not know who Frieza was. Not a big problems, and I try not to talk about to many plot holes in DBZ, but that was one of the most memorable moments in this episode. But finally I would like to say episode twenty is a good one, and really starts anticipating the arrival of Vegeta and Nappa. We are slowly approaching the end of the Vegeta Saga, and I have to say it really is fun to go back and watch these episodes, and really think about how I feel about each one.
Episode 20 (Goku's Ancestors) gets a 7/10
DBZ: Episode 20 gets THE CHARACTER BADGE
DBZ: Episode 20 gets THE LONG LASTING BADGE
