Episode 26 Review (Special Report: Live From The Forest Of Death)

Nothing like a new intro song to kick off episode 26! So, this is basically a filler episode in the middle of getting started. Konohamaru and his two little buddies show up and say they have an interview with Naruto and the others. Then the proctor remembers the interview and the rest of the episode we have to watch three segments narrated by Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke. Naruto covers the main characters and the story so far, Sakura covers the ninja ways and techniques, and Sasuke covers the other ninjas. To be honest it’s not at all necessary and hardly entertaining. If I was waiting to watch Naruto every week, and then saw this one when expecting the Forest of Death exams to start, I’d feel really cheated out of what I wanted. It’s not really a bad episode, but it’s less than average because the average episodes I actually like and look at positively, whereas this one I don’t. It’s a high four for me, but so far the worst Naruto episode yet. Rather than using this random filler episode to help the new characters, they instead use most of the time to talk about what has already happened, and the main characters, but not under their best light. They look at Naruto how the games often do, like he’s nothing more than some idiot with a big mouth, but I think the last twenty-five episodes can vouch he has good moments they didn’t show. Anyway this isn’t a total drag fest, it’s a very different episode that I wouldn’t have minded so much if it was at the end of a arc rather than right when one started, but it’s completely unnecessary episode. I usually don’t mind filler, they can be used to help the show. But this is crossing the line and although not boring me, agitating me which is even worse.
