No Luck gets a 2/5

I’ve only done one damn music review since I’ve started the website, so I think it’s time for another one. No Luck is by Tyga. First off I want to say I’m not really a fan of Tyga, although his music sounds really good, has nice flow and fair lyrical skill, he still doesn’t ever do anything new but make songs that all commercial rappers make. I like music where every song is different and there’s truth in the lyrics, and although I’ll listen to Tyga’s music, he doesn’t do near enough for me to become a loyal fan. No Luck is a perfect example of this. Although it sounds good, and some lyrics are clever, it’s way to much of the same thing and all he raps about is how amazing he is. Some of the lyrics are "I’m better than you, I know it.” I’m sorry but I can’t help but cringe when I hear lyrics as cocky as that. I know not everyone listens to music to hear actual meaning and hear purpose behind the song, but this at some point gets ridiculous. I’ve listened to just about all the tracks on this mixtape, and although I’ll listen to it, and enjoy listening to it because it simply sounds good, I can’t feel at all like going back to the song like I do music that brings real emotion. Not to mention to many of the songs I feel are to much of the same thing, which makes me feel a little worse about each song as well. I’ve listened to the song a lot for what it is, and although it sounds good it really can’t just do what I consider real music to do. I’m not trying to hate, but in my honest opinion even though there’s talent behind the lyrics it’s basically him going off for a couple minutes on how amazing he is. He obviously has swag, but I don’t give a fuck, I’m here for the music. I find Tyga wasted potential because of this, because I feel he has talent, but he is using it very poorly. When people say they like Tyga, I have no problem with that, in a way I like him too. Hopefully they just don't like him for some of his bullshit lyrics and are seeing he has some talent, and it's wasted. I don't know if it makes sense, but even though I like his music, I don't at the same time simply because of what it is. There is much more real and emotional music out there, and once you compare it to songs like this, these are nothing in comparison. And when I review I look at what a song needs to have, and most commercial rap nowadays don't have that at all.
