Episode 55 Review (The Boiling Rock, Part 2)

Escaped from the Boiling Rock Episode 55 (The Boiling Rock, Part 2) Review

And thus the conclusions to the boiling rock, and our prison duo. Basically, the team sets up another escape, this time with the dad. They plan to leave on the gondola out of prison, and use the warden as prisoner. But things go wrong. First Mai shows up, and Zuko and her have a big confrontation. After that, there’s the escape, which goes pretty smoothly. There’s a breakout, Suki has probably her best scene ever… like it came out of nowhere I was wondering where it came from. But I welcomed it, she deserved it. After that, the team escapes, but of course Azula and Ty Lee showed up earlier. And of course, they try to stop the good guys. Then when it looks like the gondola is going to be cut, Mai comes out of nowhere and saves Zuko, and betrays Azula. Then Azula and her have their big about to fight to the death confrontation, but the first to draw the trigger is Ty Lee, who saves Mai and tries to escape, but goes nowhere. And Azula is betrayed twice. And this episode tackled so much. Mai and Zuko, Azula’s trio, the father, Suki and Sokka, and on top of that, we had our typical cool adventure bullshit. And in prison. I fucking love prisons in media. And yeah, what I liked is this was the first time ironically Zuko didn’t apologize to Mai. They share this look before he bails, and that look did way more. I don’t think she wanted an apology, she wanted something to happen. She hates boredom, and I think part of that is she despises her world so much. And seeing Zuko take action on the opposite side was probably a good point for her to switch. And it doesn’t help when your best friend is a colossal bitch. I loved the climax, even watching it again, I was on the edge of my feet. All in all, a fantastic episode, and a fantastic way to deal with a lot of what they had. It was surprising as well as it made sense. I think Mai and Ty Lee switching sides made more sense than Zuko, not to say that was unreasonable. Anyway, great episode, one of the best maybe.
