This is one of those stand alone episodes that didn’t really need to happen, but it was still good. Again, I don’t know which I’m reviewing is filler, and the anime is different from the manga, so I can’t really tell. But it feels like filler. But the episode gives some more spotlight on Faust, and he hasn’t really gotten any since joining, so that was good. Anyway, there’s three new characters, they’re not really bad guys, similar to the girls and the X Laws. They believe they’ve had it the worst over the years, and that’s what makes them the worst. That’s a topic I like, because as a person who wrote a book where one of the themes was the more you go through, the stronger you are, it hits home a little for me. But of course the three new character’s problems lead them to rage, so you can see where that’s going. A trio fights out, but soon Yoh takes the lead, and whoever loses is out of the Shaman tournament. Of course Yoh wins (hard to not see that one coming. They care so little they don’t even bother to show you the end) But of course what’s his face learns that losing the tournament was actually a relief, as it changes him. Yoh challenged him knowing that, and that’s actually kind of cool. Ultimately it’s not a bad episode, with a anime like this, I don’t mind off topic episodes. It’s not as in your face as other Shonen, and for some reason straying from the path seems to fit, when it doesn’t for some other Shonen. I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHERE DOBY VILLAGE IS!
