Episode 23 Review (Genin Takedown: All Nine Rookies Face Off!)

Episode 23 Review (Genin Takedown: All Nine Rookies Face Off!)

So lately things have gone like this for me with anime recently. Of course I was working on the DBZ reviews, and have gotten pretty far. But then out of sheer wanting to do Naruto reviews, I’ve been doing that. But now I’ve taken time to simply watch some other American shows like all of Avatar (which was fucking awesome) and the first season of Teen Titans. But now I am back, and I don’t know if I should continue with the Naruto, DBZ, or something new like Avatar. I’ll figure it out, but for now we have a fresh Naruto review! The reason this was inspired was because I was looking at a character roster of a new Naruto game, and everyone was all old, and it reminded me of how behind I was! We need to get things moving so I’m not freaked out like that ever again! Anyway, squad seven on the way to the exam are stopped by Kakashi for a small talk mostly about how if they hadn’t all came in a trio, none of them would have been allowed to continue. After that they walk into a room full of ninjas, and there’s a lot of them. After that we start getting introduced to some characters like Shikamaru (he’s still a crappy character, just wait though!) and the other nine rookies, all of which who will become important characters later. I like how they aren’t afraid to straight up introduce them, that was actually a good idea to quickly get to know them all roughly. After that Kabuto, a new character shows up and starts breaking down some things with his ninja cards like how many people from which villages are in the exam, and more about Gaara and Lee. Meanwhile we get glimpses of the other teams like Gaara’s and the three ninja from the sound village. They even make a message by jumping Kabuto, and even though Kabuto dodges it, he seems hurt somehow, which is suppose to make the sound Genin look mysterious and menacing. After that we get a big entrance by the proctor, who declares himself the Genin’s worst enemy, where the episode ends. In the end this episode is entirely character introduction and development. Naruto is a show much more about character development, so the introductions aren’t always that important unless it’s interesting. It’s interesting enough in this episode, and somehow they were able to introduce a whole cast of characters for a television show nicely. I think this was a low seven, but still a nice episode. It’s interesting, and the show is slowly getting somewhere and leaving you interested for the Chunin exams. Anyway, still good.
