Episode 32 Review (Sakura Blossoms)

 Episode 32 Review (Sakura Blossoms!)

Finally! After thirty-one episodes of mediocre, Sakura finally gets a push! And the episode is even normal and not ridiculously long! YES! Well, to be honest that doesn’t happen for awhile. At first it’s all Lee, and he’s doing pretty much everything he can to keep up with everything going on. The sound guy actually has some really cool jutsu, and you realize he has a lot more powers than you’d think. It gives you a little more knowledge on how sound works, and it’s all vibrations, and I like it whenever these realistic parts of the body and mind are given in the show, as it adds a feel of realism, and a respect to the combat system. Then we see Ino’s team in the background, and Ino has some kind of backlash of her and Sakura where they turned from friends into rivals. After that the sound team starts attacking Sakura, and the girl on the team grabs her by the hair and says she’s going to watch as Sasuke dies. Then Sakura… cries. Yep, a good ol’ tear fest is just needed. But realistically this is more than justifies by what she says as she addressing she’s a weaker character, which I love they don’t ignore, and how she wishes she was more like the others. Then in maybe Sakura’s best moment so far, she takes her kunai and cuts her hair off in order to be freed. This is actually a big point when looking at it because it makes Sakura not look like she’s playing ninja, or just a stupid character. (Like stupid in the head, not in quality) She really made a huge jump, so much her physical appearance changed, and to be honest that’s what girls who fight do. Somewhat like Mulan, she cut her hair, but in this sense she couldn’t care less about it at a time like this, which makes her jump above some other characters on the list. Then she has actually goes on the attack in a substitution trick that actually involved her not using the trick, but then getting stabbed in order to get one good hit. (The biting part was unnecessary though) Then we get a good old flashback when Ino and Sakura were kids. (Apparently Ino was nice at one point in life) I mean the only bad thing about it is their friendship was broken because of a dude? Really, that comes before your best friend? Anyway the part about how Sasuke likes chicks with long hair just made me say, "Ohhhh….” And even though Sakura didn’t really won, that’s not the point. She was just taken punches to the face and was ready to die rather than run away, and a hell of a lot more than doing nothing like usual. But before she dies she is saved as Ino and the others step in, but she was ready to die, so there’s that. And then the episode ends. I’m going to give this episode a low nine. Just because this was really needed. A whole episode (mostly) dedicated to pushing the character who had fallen behind. I mentioned how I didn’t like Sakura’s early character, but this is where I officially liked her character. Although a lot of other character ideas who had her amount of screen time really could of made her better, she fulfills her purpose, and now just because of this episode, is up there with the best characters. The fighting also was really cool, and I was planning on giving it an eight, but this episode is just really important to the series, and I love this kind of character progression, so I have to go one more step above that.
