Episode 19 Review (The Siege of the North (Part 1))

So this is part one of the season finale. And everything is calm at first. Katara we can see is a lot better (the fight in the last episode could have done that already) and the Sokka princess romance is still going on. But ash literally falls on this pretty place as the fire nation draws closer. And then big epic fight! Well, mostly. Aang starts taking out ships, but he’s one dude going around, the rest of the water tribe can’t really do much but get hit, and kind of help. But the fighting stops for awhile because Zhao knows the waterbenders are stronger at night, and so he’s smart enough to wait until the next morning. But oh snap crackle and pop Zuko leaves the ship and goes after Aang by going on underwater swimming adventures. Aang thinks finding a nice quiet spot to enter the spirit world will get rid of their problems, but Zuko comes in (by the way there was a touching moment with Zuko and Iroh that I thought was really emotional) But Katara and Zuko fight. Also Sokka was doing his warrior stuff and got into a fight with the princess’s fiancé. But Sokka is kicked out of the army, and made the official bodyguard of the princess. But the big part of the episode is the Katara vs. Zuko fight of extreme fire vs. water. And Katara mostly is winning, although Zuko apparently is a really good swimmer, so water I guess isn’t his weakness. But as the moon goes down and the sun up, Zuko destroys, and Aang is kidnapped, with his spirit floating in wherever land. But seriously, why did nobody fucking attack the ships? It was night, moon up! That’s when you attack! Oh no, we’ll fight on the bad guy’s terms, that seems like a really fucking smart thing to do! Anyway, still a really good episode, it did set up the big season finale. Book one is almost done, and we are about a third of the way through Avatar. Let’s all agree, things are getting epic! Epicer I mean.
