Episode 59 Review (Sozin's Comet, Part 2: The Old Masters) Episode 59 (Sozin’s Comet, Part 2: The Old Masters) Review
The White Lotus is possibly the
coolest thing they could have done to the lore of this series. They sprinkled
all these all cool characters, and although except maybe Bumi, none were
awesome. (I don’t count Iroh, he’s a main character) And then they do this, and
it combines them in all one cool net, one that also counts in the main story.
And it was referenced and mentioned before, and didn’t come out of nowhere. Not
to mention Iroh needed this, his character wouldn’t have come full circle
without this. But anyway, for a quick synopsis, shit still hasn’t hit the fan.
It’s within the fan, ready to get smacked, but still hasn’t hit it. First Aang
is talking to a bunch of these past Avatars, and each pretty much say the same
thing, he has to do what needs to be done. AKA, kill Ozai, that’s how everyone
else saves the world, why can’t you? And the past Avatars aren’t these masters
of wisdom, even if Roku was supposed to kind of be a guide, he’s just a wise
guy. Sometimes some wise advise isn’t much. So Aang conflicted as ever finally
notices the island he is on is a giant animal… a lion turtle. Bear with me,
he’s on a very epic and legendary animal. It says some epic words and touches
him, and a green light glows. It’s a cool light by the way. Then the Lion
Turtle just dips, nothing happened. Then we set things up, and the comet is on
its way. Also the best part of the episode, Zuko and Iroh makeup. To be honest,
it wasn’t as good as I think everyone thinks it is. Fucking touching and all
that, flawless, but it didn’t really hit me like it did some people. Still
fucking nice, I think the scene stands for itself and how well it was done.
Anyway, great episode. I loved it, what a set up. Not to mention this is when
the story hits hard, and it really is just thinking. I mean a plane went by my
house during the ending, and I thought that sound was just part of the episode,
that’s how epic it was getting. Anyway, great episode, can’t say it enough. TWO
