Episode 41 Review (Kunoichi Rumble: The Rivals Get Serious!)

Episode 41 Review (Kunoichi Rumble: The Rivals Get Serious!)

Less than five minutes in and we have our winner! The first thirty seconds is a what the hell moment when the guy from Kabuto’s team who we will address as generic ninja suddenly binds his body around Kankuro like he’s got superpowers, then as he breaks his neck, turns out he’s not Kankuro, he’s his puppet Crow, who then binds around him squeezing him till his bones break while the real Kankuro was hiding in the puppet’s bandaging, which I guess means he wasn’t the real Kankuro that whole time. After that Ino and Sakura have a heated discussion where all rivals have the best conversations, the women’s bathroom. Then as they get back, turns out they’ll be fighting each other in the fourth match. This is actually pretty cool since this is the first match we know both opponents well, and it’s not predictable. But soon after the match gets started, Ino bitch slaps Sakura across the face. Not a chick fight at all. Then I actually laughed at how almost stupid it was, they acted like it was the most emotional thing ever, then Sakura goes into a flashback when they picked flowers when they were five… not going to say anything. I mean I get the whole thing that they were going for. Sakura is named after a flower, she gets called a bud, and flower that doesn’t bloom, and all that crap. It’s just a little ridiculous how they did it is all. All I can say though is that kid Ino is way nicer than normal Ino. Then there was this whole part about how when they’re "true Shinobi” they’ll wear their headband on normally, which they both do as the episode ends. I mean I get how it’s really character driven and important, and I like it. It’s super symbolic, and Sakura is getting caught up with the rest of the characters. It ends with the two just starting the fight. It’s a high seven, and so far the best episode of season two. It’s important and cool, but I just found it was a little lacking in execution personally. Still really good though, and I got a feeling episode forty-two will also be really good.
