The Show Goes On gets a 4/5

All right, with Words I Never Said out of the way, lets get to the other songs on the Lasers album, starting with the most popular single, The Show Goes On. And yeah, I really like this song as well, and from what I’ve heard it’s one of the best on the album. First, I think the beat is really great. It’s a happy beat that’s really uplifting while not being a guilty pleasure like a dumb pop song. As for Lupe’s lyrics, they’re short simple and sweet. Again the uplifting parts where he literally can make anybody feel better. He uses lines that while also are uplifting, are showing his distain for his label. And he gets the job done, and is a plus to the song. As for sound, it’s a really good sounding song, and definitely It’s a summer song you wouldn’t mind listening to on the radio. And speaking of Lupe’s label, is it me or doesn’t feel like Atlantic Records holds some artists back? Like B.o.B I feel is a good rapper, but his label is holding him back, just like Lupe. Then again, nothing to do with the music we’re hearing, so completely irrelevant. As for the music video… yeah this is the second one in a row that didn’t really need to exist. It’s there to help promote the song, and isn’t really hurting or helping the song. It’s just Lupe making his way to a stage, and that’s about it. No big effects, just him just making his way to the stage… Words I Never Said however less successful has a more interesting music video. In fact, a lot of Lupe’s music videos have interesting ideas, and this one isn’t one of them. And I heard somewhere he didn’t want to do this song for whatever reason, and I don’t really care enough to look enough into it. But if that is the case, he shows no signing of going in monotone or not caring. He sounds like he’s going a hundred percent, and it’s too see a positive rapper like him. And this one really captures the good feeling I think when I think of the Lasers album. The idea is Lasers is capturing the inner being inside of a person, and that’s this one does, and there are lasers just popping all over the place. That being said I don’t think like getting a featured artist like B.o.B or another positive rapper would have hurt, maybe add another minute of time length. But the song captures all it accomplishes, with little reason to hate it. The instrumental is basically a clusterfuck of happy noises and orchestrated happiness, so yeah, great song. Big smiley faces all around!
