Episode 69 Review (Village In Distress: A New A-Ranked Mission!)

The sixty-ninth episode doesn’t really have a direct thing going on, but it does feel fleshed out even though not a whole lot happens. Naruto and Shikamaru wake up, even though Shikamaru was faking awake. Kakashi summons a search dog to go along with Sakura so they can go after Sasuke. Meanwhile the Third Hokage and Orochimaru begin their battle. It seems like they’re just kind of screwing around with each other, and they are, but you feel like something really epic is about to happen at any moment. And that’s exactly what happens. Orochimaru uses a new technique, and this one seems like if Naruto were a video game, this would be the cheat code. He brought back the first and second Hokage from the dead, and they’re possessed evil bodies have to fight the Third Hokage. Yeah, that pretty much means Orochimaru won in my eyes. All I know is the rest of that fight is going to be epic. Besides that there are some other things going on, and you see what’s happening to some side characters like Konohamaru and his friends. Not super interesting, but it’s kind of cool we know what’s going on with them. As a whole there isn’t technically a whole lot going on in the episode, but the momentum holds, and it doesn’t at all bore you. It’s still stage setting, and you know something huge is just around the corner. It works, but hopefully by the end of the next episode somebody will reach somebody, and the epicness will begin!
