Episode 130 Review (Father and Son, the Broken Crest)

Episode 130 Review (Father and Son, the Broken Crest)

Um… more flashbacks. Oh, I’m sorry, FLASHBACKS. All right, the episode begins with Naruto and Sasuke fighting, and even the music is making it seem like it’s not going to carry on for long. And guess what, it doesn’t. We get more FLASHBACKS. And I’ll be honest, I like the flashbacks. I feel this past is helping Sasuke’s character, and that younger him is almost cooler and more bad ass than the guy he grew up in, and the Sharingan mystery thing is pretty cool. But here are my problems. One, they decided to show this after episode after episode of hype, and a shit load of hype by me waiting to get here through all the waiting of reviewing episodes I’d seen before, and at least knew what happened from the manga. And two, the cause and effect result. Back to the one, this could have been shown during the time before Sasuke left the village, as we see more reason for him to leave, and how dark his history is… or more detailed I guess his dark history was. But through all these episodes of back-story, Sasuke didn’t grow into much. In the beginning he’s pretty one-dimensional, but he grew from there. And yeah, he was cool. But not awesome or anything, and I didn’t really care much about his relationship with Naruto. I mean in the hundred episodes, I think I care more about Shikamaru and Choji as a duo, and they had like half an episode of back-story. Naruto and Sasuke, they had they’re moments together, they were obviously rivals, but shit, they didn’t grow into something special. They weren’t this ultimate bro-duo, they weren’t the best of friends, or the fiercest of rivals like Goku and Vegeta, they were small versions of that. And now with all this cause being added, it’s making me think less of the effect, and to be honest, I just want my thirteen year old boy to come out and watch a really epic fight. And to be honest, I’m liking Sasuke less now because of this. I think Sasuke would make a great sidekick to a villain. Like, if there was an all right bad guy, and Sasuke was his sidekick, and we knew all this about his back-story, and how he betrayed the leaf in some other way, then defeated that all right bad guy, he’d be awesome. He went from side character into epicness. But no, he’s the center of attention, which isn’t bad, but at the wrong time, and with wrong execution. Don’t get me wrong, this is not a bad episode, and this is not bad footage or a back-story, they’re just really changing my perspective on things, and not in a good way, and I don’t like how they’re handling it. But that can all be changed, and hopefully it will soon.
