Link's Crossbow Training Review

 Links Crossbow Training Review
Genre: Shooter
Developer: Nintendo EAD Group No. 3
System I Played On:
Year: 2007

All right, before I begin, let me say how ashamed I am. Let’s go way back when I was a child. I played Legend of Zelda Majora’s for N64. I played it a lot, but never finished. And I remember a little of playing Windmaker, and Twilight Princess, but never being able to get a copy of any of the Legend of Zelda games. Then at a garage sale I got a brand new never used Wii Zapper for two bucks, and found this game inside, and although I never had a wii, I thought it would be useful when I did. And I recently got a Wii, and ah… this is the first Legend of Zelda game I’ve finished… I’m sorry. Yes, like one of the most praised game series, and I play this one first. And it’s also the first Wii game I’ve played and finished… yeah I’m ashamed. Anyway, to the review. And yeah, Link’s Crossbow Training is pretty much just a toy to test your Wii Zapper. It’s a harmless shooter thrown into Legend of Zelda, with areas and creatures making appearances. I know who Skull Kid is, and he made it in, so there’s that. It’s simple, shoot shit, then sometimes walk around and shoot shit. With each stage, there are three levels. And I think there around eight or nine stages as a whole. You have to get at least twenty thousand on a stage to keep moving, and you get a bronze metal. Silver and gold are for the higher levels. And yeah, you can finish in like an hour, once you know that hitting targets consecutively starts multiplying your points. And yeah, it’s fun. It gets old after a little while, but yeah, it’s a fun toy, go apeshit. And it’s short, and I reviewed another short game called Naruto Clash of a Ninja… and I didn’t react well with that. But this game I can somehow see myself going back and playing it, and the short experience can be something pretty cool, and as a whole, is not bad, like Naruto fucking clash of a ninja. Sorry, already reviewed that. But what ticks me off, is there is hardly anything but the main story… or whatever you want to call it. All you can do is it, some practice on the individual levels, and multiplayer, which I didn’t play, so I’ll give it that. But no altered courses, no area where I can free roam and just shoot wherever. And yeah, those are the type of things that add longevity. Seriously, short and sweet sure. But this feels more absent than sweet. But it’s a fun tester or toy, and it’s likeable. At one point I was just thinking this thing is so bad ass, and I loved the game. But yeah, it wore off. I will say there is a boss at the end I really enjoyed, one of the more memorable bosses I’ve faced in awhile. And the level designs are creative. Like every other level I can see in someone’s brain like, "Oh, that’s a cool idea for a shooter level!” Yeah, ride on Link’s horse and shoot shit, why not? But I wish they'd throw in more, why not? It’s not too short, just too absent. I’m happy with the time length. Anyway, not much else, just an all right little harmless game… that’s also is Legend of Zelda related. But kind of fun.

Link's Crossbow Training gets a 2/5
Spoilers: There is shooting… damn, didn’t see that one coming.
