Episode 41 Review (The Awakening)

 Episode 41 (The Awakening) Review

This is how you start a season! With Fire now underway, we have again this Zuko storyline and Aang storyline going on. On Zuko’s side, things are sort of up. He’s got this new emo cut, he’s dating Mai, things seem good, but you can feel he is even more miserable than before. Than he gets there, and then meets his dad Luke Skywalker, and he actually looks very calm. He has that Satan look where they actually look very almost polite and good looking, but then you know at some moment it’ll fade and they’ll just freak out into a really intense person. And he thinks Zuko killed Aang, and Zuko is given the credit for it because Azula told him that he killed Aang. So Zuko goes to Azula, and in another really good scene she just makes it all work out for her. Now if Aang shows up, Zuko’s screwed, if not, she’s good anyway. It’s like no matter what she’ll beat Zuko. Meanwhile, Aang wakes up on a fire nation ship, with his own head of hair even. Turns out that  the others after getting to safety stole a fire nation ship, and with Sokka and Katara’s dad and some friends were planning on making their own attack on the fire nation. Bato, Jet’s friends, they’re all there, and it’s been a couple weeks. Then there is a big fun ship fight, just getting it in for the sake of it. And yeah it’s cool. But stuff happens with the characters, but mostly Aang and Katara. Katara at first is starting to act like a bit harsh to her father, she even reminded me of Korra in one of her not so great moments. But then they tear it out later, and I guess there is closure there. Ultimately it felt needed, but was poorly executed. I felt I needed to know the dad more, and more needed to happen than Katara being bitchy to him for a little while. But the voice actress playing her really just went a hundred percent in that scene. And lastly Aang has a lot to do as well. Now that he’s failed again, ultimately, but despite trying his best, he doesn’t see it like that. He sees him hitting every dead end, and now he can’t even act like he’s him. So he tries to leave, and it makes more sense. He’s going to try and take on the Fire Lord all at once, but he gets into another storm. This one gets him down, but though he stumbles, he doesn’t fall… until he gets to land. The others find him there, and everything has calmed down. His glider is destroyed, and in the end he burns it, leaving the episode at a hell of a close. I really liked this episode, it really started the season in a great way. I feel excited for the rest, and the Awakening feels like an appropriate title because it really feels like you just woke up in this world, but it has changed. I really liked the character development, the story, everything.
