Now for episode 8, the probably worst named episode of them all. This episode has the debut of Yajirobe and mostly in the beginning tells what’s going on with Krillen and the others. It’s fairly entertaining, and not really as slow as the last episode, and keeps you interested. This is also probably one of the biggest episodes Chi-Chi is in, and she spends most of it acting like a crazy psycho mom. But then she finally learns Goku is dead, and it’s more comical than actually sad, life and death doesn’t really have a big impact in DragonBall Z after all. But soon it picks up, and Gohan turns into his Oozaru form, otherwise known as the Great Ape. This is something I felt was needed for the show at some point, as anybody who watched DragonBall probably wanted to see Gohan transform. But the moment doesn’t last long as Piccolo soon blows the moon to shit, and Gohan goes back to his human form. Piccolo then for good measure removes Gohan’s tail, which he will never have again! (in the show at least) He even gave him new clothes with a sword, and I like how when he gave him the new clothes the symbol on the back told that Piccolo was Gohan’s trainer. I thought that was very interesting, and I like Gohan dressed like his dad better than the outfit before where he looked like a baby. But right when Piccolo does Gohan a favor he ditches him for what he says is six months. He’s a very on and off good guy right now. Otherwise I think this episode was a little better than the last one, and I think it’s good it stayed away from Goku and kept more with Piccolo and Gohan as that was more interesting, and allowed Gohan’s character to grow.
