Fable III Review

 Fable III Review
Genre: Action Role-Playing
Developer: Lionhead studios
System I played on: Xbox 360
Year: 2010

If video games put subtitles on the box, I’m sure Fable III’s would say "The new entry in the Fable franchise outdoes itself by using new mechanics like weapon morphing, and ruling a kingdom.” The real version that it should say is, "Find a mediocre game filled in a sea of bullshit.” Yes, never before have I felt like a giant middle finger was raised after it took money from my family. I loved Fable one, and my brother loved Fable 2, so it could easily mean we both love this one, after all the game had a good hype. But the game is covered in bullshit! Weapon morphing? That’s uncontrollable, and it sucks. Being king is only a percentage of how cool it should be, and that’s only beginning to cover the bullshit. The black dye DLC? You mean you think we wouldn’t notice you took out a color change, and charged it for extra? It’s the color black, you think we would rather have khaki on our like, ten different sets of armor. Money means shit, it’s to easy (yes I’m saying that even though I suck) and the game is to short, even with all the amazing amount of time you spend in the sanctuary and loading screens. I don’t really mind the sanctuary, I kind of got what I wanted by viewing all my armor on display, but it wasn’t worth it. Spells, character interactions, and even the characters just got simple. In the Fable franchise, interacting with the little people just slowly got worse. The magic, slowly got worse. Combining spells may have looked good in trailers, was cool the first time I did it, but there are to few of spells! By the way, its’ not will anymore, I guess that word had to get simpler to, and you need some bullshit gauntlets to use. The amazing guild of heroes you played as in the first game is like a distant memory, and there was no point in bringing Reaver back if he wasn’t going to do shit! Choice means shit! The Fable games usually didn’t back up their big choices, as they didn’t change much. But they did however gave closure to their story, but in this story, I didn’t give a shit! Even if the characters were good, they didn’t have the Showtime to well, shine. Being king fucks you up as much as it helps you, navigation sucks! The fucking trail sucks! The road to rule sucks! This game is covered in layers of bullshit! My brother and I bought this day one, and it completely undelivered. The dog means shit! The bad guys mean shit! The boss battles are shit! The best thing is the art surroundings, and it’s still too small! The enemies are good, I guess, I’ll give it that. Aurora was kind of cool, even though the bad guy ruined my time in it by his shitty end. What you do as king doesn’t really do change in the amount of money you gather, which is just depressing. This game was rushed out, and was a money grabbing piece of shit. Then after all it’s bullshit, it was just like "Well they already bought it, might as well see if we can grab more money from them.” No! The Fable franchise went to shit! I won’t buy Fable 4, I learned my lesson. The story is mediocre, the characters don’t have enough screen time, and the antagonist suck! If you played Fable 2, then you will know at the very end of it, it made a perfect antagonist. Hell, I’ll take Reaver over the antagonist, he might actually give me a good ending, and back up what he says. Watch some game-play  it’ll look fun, but mindless mashing two buttons gets old! Buying good reviews must have happened here, because to many parts of this game suck for this to earn a good review. Sorry, you had potential Fable III, but your bullshit probably ruined a franchise. When I invented the badges, one was actually going to be called the bullshit badge, one that called a major point of bullshit in the game. I would have happily slapped this game with it. If I ever decide to bring it back, you know which title would be first to get this badge, until then, just replay Fable II or I because III isn’t as fun as doing that.

Fable III gets a 1/5

Spoilers: Right away in Fable III I was a little confused. With each game you start as a kid, which adds a feeling of adventure and growth, and makes you feel like the world grows, as well as your character. This time, HELL NO! You’re an adult, and your dog is carried over in the poorest of ways. The first choice, is terrible. Oh, should I save my chick, or the villagers? Well, since saving the villagers does nothing, I’ll save the chick! This could easily be fixed by possibly having one of the villagers link to the story, and become your friend. But no, you’ll save your girlfriend. You raise an army to fight your brother, but your brother just gives up. If he lives, then he is scene like once after that. IF you decide to kill him, you just watch a video of him dying, not actually doing it yourself. The best part of the game was choosing what should happen to the towns as king, but even that was done poorly. It was such a cool concept, but unfortunately having the worst of the best isn’t a good thing. Also, the game is too comical. Hey, I like when my serious RPGs pulling fun at a few things, but that doesn’t mean you tell a joke every other line. How can you have a serious fantasy epic when you can’t even have serious side characters or a kind of funny joke every other second. The jokes were funny, but its like if I say the strategy is good in a Mario game, it really doesn’t fit. I mean I’m being open minded to it, but once I realized my awesome story was robbed, the jokes got stale.
